This site is the homepage of Dr. David N. Rapp, a professor of Learning Sciences and Psychology at Northwestern University . His research focuses on reader-guided processes of multimedia comprehension, processes of language and memory, the knowledge, beliefs, and expectations that individuals use to guide their text comprehension, and how those processes operate during complex multimedia events that incorporate text, images, and sounds into a single discourse presentation. His research is aimed towards informing the development of multimedia tools to facilitate information processing, and the design of educational methodologies.
