Monterey Bay Aquarium
The mission of the Monterey Bay Aquarium is to inspire conservation of the oceans. The Aquarium website has extensive information on conservation efforts world wide, ways in which the public can help, as well as a slide show of exhibit highlights. There are more than fifty online videos with related educational links, and a kid?s corner with live web cams, activities and games, Discover Diving, Student Oceanography Club, downloadable Animal Field Guides, Cool Facts, and more. The Sea Searchers Handbook is a downloadable 168 page activities and educational manual covering ocean habitats and creatures. There is an education newsletter for teachers available by email, and teacher programs include hands-on workshops, teacher institutes and in-service training opportunities. Also available online are variety of educational activities and standards-based teaching units to learn and teach about ocean life. The Conservation and Research page has information on a number of conservation programs, as well as the Seafood Watch pocket guide that helps consumers make smart seafood choices that make a difference for the future of ocean wildlife.
