This guide is intended to provide a basis from which a comprehensive study of coastal wetlands can be developed by teachers for their classrooms. It includes lessons and hands-on activities for students on the location and distribution of wetlands, the role of the Mississippi River in the formation of coastal wetlands, their beneficial functions, and issues associated with loss of wetlands. A glossary, references and reading list, and an appendix containing illustrations to accompany the lessons are also provided.
