Institute for Global Environmental Strategies (IGES) is now accepting entries for the 2010 Thacher Environmental Research Contest. The 2010 Thacher awards will be given to secondary school students (grades 9-12) demonstrating the best use of geospatial tools or data to study Earth. Eligible tools and data include satellite remote sensing, aerial photography, geographic information systems (GIS), and Global Positioning System (GPS)... Full description

2009 is over, but our celebrations certainly are continuing! It has been a wonderful year highlighting the contributions that science makes to our lives and building collaborative connections across boundaries that often exist across our diverse scientific community. As we reflect back on the Year of Science 2009, several key words come to mind: celebrate, communicate, and collaborate! Applications are available for the 2008-10 participation in the Integrated Geospatial Education and Technology Training (iGETT) project. iGETT helps two-year college faculty enhance existing GIS programs by integrating remote sensing and GPS data in ways that support workforce needs.
