Some drawings to accompany the photographs, and additional photographs to highlight specific points might be helpful, especially for younger students in the former case and older students in the latter case.

This is great! I just finished a class on sedimentology/stratigraphy and this will help sharpen interpretive skills. I like the thumbnail design, and the question and answer format for the student to try and figure it out first.
