Comments and Teaching Tips given for Just For Kids: Soil Biological Communities Comment on this resource

Apr 3, 2007
The website presents information on soils and what they are made out of. This would be used as an internet research assignment. There are graphics that make research fun for students. There are many different areas to click on to watch the process of soils formation and function. A self assessment is also included.

This interactive website helps students build on prior knowledge. It takes students through an incredible journey and demonstrates to them the importance of soil. I liked this site because it was easy to use and understand. Students can play with the interactive activities or adopt a soil critter. The website is appealing and offers assessments, materials and references that are always useful for teachers to have use of. I also like that this site is like a fun adventure that the soil wizard takes the students on, which is a great attention grabber for this grade level.
