Mar 23, 2006
This resource is used in the Living in Earthquake Country Teaching Box, Lesson 2: "Faults are at Fault: Where Earthquakes Occur". It is used as an extension activity to reinforce the idea that the hypocenter (or focus) of an earthquake is the exact point where the earthquake rupture starts and is usually deep within the earth's crust many kilometers below the surface of the earth and some distance away from the surface trace of the fault.
