This virtual tour features three-dimensional images from the United States Geological Survey's (USGS) collection. It introduces visitors to the post-eruption landscape around Mount St. Helens in Washington, which collapsed in an eruption in 1980. Features include debris-filled valleys; Coldwater Lake, a new lake dammed by debris from the eruption; and the shell of the old volcano with its resurgent dome. It is also possible to see in many of the scenes how vegetation and other life is gradually returning to many areas left barren after the eruption. The 3-D images are anaglyphs and require red and cyan 3-D viewing glasses.
