This portal provides access to an extensive selection of maps and geospatial data published by federal and other government agencies. Users can choose a word search option (feature name, city, state) or select from a list of categories (hurricanes, fire mapping, biology, geology, etc.) to locate maps or datasets. The front page includes a selection of featured maps showing current items such as fires or homeland security issues. There is also a user's guide with instructions on how to find maps or data, make maps using the viewer, browse community information, or obtain information on sharing or acquisition of datasets. Users can also register to obtain personalized options such as saving of searches or favorite maps for later use.
