This site is the home page for an igneous and metamorphic petrology class at Union College. Features on the page include slide shows, lab exercises, exam study guides, field trip information and photo galleries. Special topics featured on the site include New England igneous and metamorphic rocks, the Skaergaard intrusion, Norwegian eclogites, the Stillwater complex, and Icelandic volcanoes. There is a link to an Excel spreadsheet for calculating norms from igneous rock chemical analyses. There are also photomicrographs of igneous and metamorphic rocks in thin section.
