RV Heraclitus - 1995-2010 Coral Reef Expeditions
This site offers information about the mission of the R.V. Heraclitus, the research vessel of the Planetary Coral Reef Foundation, which began in 1995 and is expected to conclude in 2010. Expedition goals are outlined. These include gathering baseline information on the condition of selected reef ecosystems, supporting the monitoring and mapping of reefs using satellite technology, furthering knowledge of human cultures, and fostering seamanship training and cultural exchange among members of the crew. A map and schedule of Heraclitus' route from 2002 to 2010 is also presented.
