This lesson is designed to help students gain knowledge in using the MY NASA DATA Live Access Server (LAS) to specify and download a microset of data, then to use the data to investigate tropospheric ozone for several U.S. cities. Using the LAS, student-groups will create line-plots of tropospheric ozone for a particular date and city. From that information they will investigate possible trends in ozone and compare their findings to information found on the EPA Air Quality Index website. The lesson provides detailed procedure, related links and sample graphs, follow-up questions and extensions, and Teacher Notes.
