|PUMAS (Practical Uses of Math and Science)|
This online journal of one-page examples illustrates how math and science concepts are actually used in everyday life. Practical Uses of Math and Science (PUMAS) examples may be activities, anecdotes, descriptions of neat ideas, formal exercises, puzzles or demonstrations, written primarily by scientists. They are intended to help K-12 teachers enrich their presentation of science and math in the classroom. Teachers can search the PUMAS collection based on curriculum topic, grade level, and subject. They can select relevant examples, and develop ideas of their own about how to integrate the material into their lesson plans. The PUMAS project is always looking for contributors of good examples of the practical uses of math and science to include on the site, as well as science and education reviewers to review the examples.
