Field Guide to the Punchbowl Fault Zone at Devil's Punchbowl, Los Angeles County Park, California
This guide provides an introduction to the structures, rocks, and geology of the Punchbowl Fault, a part of the San Andreas Fault system in southern California. Topics include the timing of the fault's movement, the amount of displacement, and the internal structure and fabric of the fault. There is also information on the geochemistry and fabric of the crushed and distorted rocks (ultracataclasites) at the fault's core. A road and trail log provides information on features which can be seen on a field excursion into the area.
