The World Water Council is a non-profit, non-governmental think tank with a mission to promote awareness and build political commitment on critical water issues at all decision-making levels. The concept for the Council arose at a 1977 UN conference. Their programs emphasize efficient conservation, protection, development, planning, management and use of water. Available resources include press releases, a newsletter, and the World Water Actions database. Searchable by theme and region, this database provides summary information on water projects and actions worldwide. The site also includes information on the World Water Forum, and event held every three years and focused on global water concerns.
