The TRIBES program, Tribal Resource Institute in Business, Engineering, and Science, is a powerful education program developed and run by the Council of Energy Resource Tribes (CERT). Native high school students attend the program for seven intense weeks at the University of New Mexico. They learn leadership skills, take coursework designed to help them be better prepared for college, and form a community of mutual support for their college years. A realistic environmental, political, and economic scenario affecting the fictitious Lobo Nation allows the students to discover, struggle with, and begin to understand the complexities of tribal leadership in authentic ways that prepare them for the future.
