Cherokee Removal GIS Activities
The goal of these GIS-based activities and materials is to allow students to gain a more thorough understanding of the Cherokee Removal of the 1830's as they compare and contrast various views of Cherokee life through the information available in a federal census of the tribe made in 1835 at the time of removal. The activities make this possible by providing access to census data that can be interpreted within the context of a variety of more traditional historical sources. Additional materials include textual references, an instructor guide, and written, pictorial, and static map items.
