Properties of the Ocean: Change
In this activity students will search the Web in order to answer specific questions about the salinity of oceans. They will then create a visual presentation of their findings, using pie charts illustrating the chemical composition of the ocean, or line graphs of the three major oceans showing seasonal salinity readings, or a comparison of the salinity of each of the oceans. In the second part, students will play the role of consultants to a laboratory that has lost the labels on their water samples. They need suggestions as to how they can identify and label the water samples once again. Student teams will be assessed on the accuracy and clarity of their answers to the first part and on the cleverness and feasibility of their answers to the second part.
