In this activity, students will experience the excitement of discovery and problem-solving to learn about organisms that live in extreme environments in the deep ocean. As part of the activity, the students will imagine that they are going on an expedition to explore the deep-sea floor, while they teacher plays recorded sound effects and reads from a narrative. As they proceed, they will come to understand the importance of ocean exploration and to discover what information they can use to determine where they are in an unknown area.
