The Boulder County Wildlife Mitigation Group (BCWMG) was formed in 1989, shortly after the Black Tiger Fire destroyed 44 homes and burned 2,100 mountain forest acres in the Sugarloaf area. Resulting cooperation between federal, state and local government agencies and organizations laid the foundation for BCWMG, one of the nation's oldest partnered wildfire mitigation groups. The group creates wildfire mitigation by partnered efforts in ecosystem health and public outreach and information. As part of its public information effort, BCWMG has reviewed other electronic resources providing landowner information on wildfire mitigation, including those from dozens of national, state and local organizations and government agencies. This site also provides color-coded maps of Boulder County fire districts.
