This site covers the geology and volcanology of Iceland. Iceland is home to numerous volcanoes with diverse eruptive styles. This research institute studies these volcanoes, including their eruptive histories, lava petrology, the chemistry of the volcanic gasses and the after-effects of the eruptions. For each eruption since 1996, there is a daily chronicle with photographs and maps. New information will be added in the event of new eruptions. This site also has field trip logs from two field trips on the island. The site is available in both English and Icelandic text.
