Geology in the Eastern Region
The Eastern Regional office of the United States Geological Survey (USGS) coordinates the cooperative geologic mapping program in the 26 States east of the Mississippi River as well as in the District of Columbia, Puerto Rico, and the Virgin Islands. It conducts research and maintains data and information about geologic hazards, coastal and marine geology, volcanoes, earthquakes, minerals, energy resources, and surface processes. Additional links are provided for USGS information about each state or region.
