This is the web site for Dive and Discover, an interactive distance learning web site created by the Woods Hole Oceanographic Institute which is designed to immerse the user in the excitement of discovery and exploration of the deep seafloor. It allows teachers to link their classes and/or curricula to changing deep ocean science expeditions. This site features archived expeditions to such locations as the Galapagos Islands, the East Pacific Rise, New England Seamounts, and the Juan de Fuca Ridge which investigated such phenomena as hydrothermal vents, mid-ocean ridges, volcanic eruptions, seamounts, and their associated rocks and organisms. Students can retrace the progress of those expeditions or choose to observe an expedition which is currently in progress. The site also includes teacher resources such as expedition background information, teaching strategies, activities, and links to related topics
