Weather and the Built Environment
The National Environmental Education Foundation (NEEF), American Meteorological Society (AMS), and Cooperative Program for Meteorological Education and Training (COMET) have developed the second in a suite of free online courses related to weather and the environment. This one-hour course provides an overview of the evolution of our modern urban environment with a focus on impacts on the watershed, air quality, and climate. Each unit in the course also includes information on ways to reduce our impact on water and air. Although the initial target audience was broadcast meteorologists, the course has proven to be a useful learning tool for educators, landscape architects, and others. The course is available online, with free registration required.
