melted
snow

falls

Colorado,
Utah,
New
Mexico,
and
Wyoming.

the
period
from
May
2000
to
April
2003
severe
drought
occurred
in
the
western
states,
and
Colorado
River
runoff
was
far
below
normal.
The
effect
is
a
drop
in
lake
levels
that
is
visible
