Search Web Service

The Digital Discovery System Web Service (DDSWS) is a search and retrieval service API for items that reside in a digital repository, and is available from the Digital Discovery System (DDS), the Digital Catalog System (DCS) and the NSDL Catalog System (NCS). The service may be used to search over and retrieve items from it's repository in real-time, and is designed to be used by high-availability applications.

The service is illustrated and described formally here:

  • Documentation - The documentation describes the service in detail, with service examples and information about each of the requests and search APIs.
  • Examples - The examples provide functional code that illustrate using the service, which are free to copy, modify and use.
  • Explorer - The Search Web Service explorer allows you to issue each of the available requests to the service and view the XML response using your web browser.
