Scope statements

Definition

Scope statements are the means to understanding what a collection is all about. They define the purpose or theme of a collection as well as the criteria to be part of the collection. They also provide contact and persistence information about the collection as well as review and quality mechanisms.

Scope statements in DLESE

Every DLESE collection is required to have a publicly available (at a local website or hosted by the DLESE Program Center) scope statement. DLESE provides information on how to write a scope statement.

DLESE can host scope statements

The following collections have asked the DLESE Program Center to host their scope statements. Click on the link to read the respective scope statements.
