Collection framework - all versions

Framework purpose

The purpose of the collection metadata framework is to

  1. Provide for the discrete discovery of collections
  2. Indicate presence in the DLESE Reviewed Collection
  3. Indicate whether the collection can be redistributed (e.g. to National Science Digital Library NSDL)
  4. Indicate the metadata format of the collection's metadata records (ADN, annotation etc.)
  5. Indicate how the collection's metadata records arrive at the DPC (e.g. email, OAI or FTP)

Current version

Version 1.0.00 is the current version and is the version collection builders should use in order to contribute a news an opportunities collection to DLESE.

Milestones

  • January 2004 - version 1.0.00 release - based on the Collections Accessioning Taskforce (CAT) reduced some required metadata
  • April 2003 - version 0.1.01 release
  • June 2002 - March 2003 - development of the collection-level metadata framework
