Relation fields overview

The purpose is to describe relationships between resources by referencing library identification numbers or urls of the referenced resource. For relationships expressed using identification numbers, see Id numbers. For relationships expressed using urls see, Urls.

Id numbers

• Kind - the type of relationship being expressed; controlled vocabulary
• Id number - the identification number of the referenced resource in some catalog or library (can be something other than DLESE)
• Catalog - the name of the catalog or library of the referenced identification number
• Title - the title of the reference resource
• Description - the description of the referenced resource

Urls

• Kind - the type of relationship being expressed; controlled vocabulary
• Url - the url of the referenced resource
• Title - the title of the reference resource
• Description - the description of the referenced resource

There is no limit to the number of relationships that are allowed. However, if identification numbers are not in DLESE, the referenced resource will not display in the DLESE discovery system search results.
