Creator/ cataloger overview

The purpose is to describe what person or organization created the content of the resource and what person or organization cataloged the resource.

Creator or Cataloger - Person

  • Title - the form of address for an individual
  • First name - self-explanatory; required metadata as free text
  • Middle name - self explanatory
  • Last name - the family name of a person; required metadata as free text
  • Institutional department - the departmental affiliation of the individual
  • Institutional name - the institutional affiliation of the individual; required metadata as free text
  • Primary email - the main email address of the individual; required metadata as free text
  • Alternate email - a secondary email address for the individual

Creator or Cataloger - Organization

  • Institutional position - the position that is a point of contact in the organization (e.g. reference library, instructional designer)
  • Institutional department - the department that is a point of contact in the organization
  • Institutional name - the name of the institution to be contacted; required metadata as free text
  • Url - a url as a point of contact
  • Email - an email address as a point of contact

In accordance with the DLESE Privacy Policy, resource cataloger information is not displayed in the DLESE discovery system search results or passed onto others. However, resource creator information, its author, sponsor or publisher, is required in order to know where a resource comes from. This helps library users judge how much credence to give resources. Resource creator information is displayed in the DLESE discovery system search results.
